Hello, my long lost Blog Friends! We've been on the go non-stop and I've missed you all terrribly over the last couple of weeks. After a successful pageant week, I worked like crazy at work to finish up the last few computer training classes that I had to teach so that we can all be ready to go when our new system goes live next week. To reward myself, I headed off to the beach on Friday for a couple of days to meet up with my mom, sister, niece, Maddie, two family friends, and their kids only to fall prey to the nasty stomach virus within a few hours of arriving. Needless to say, I did not step foot out of the condo until it was time to leave to come home on Sunday. Good times.
On a sad note, we saw firsthand how the oil spill will devastate the Gulf Coast. By the time we left Sunday morning, there were crews in Haz Mat suits beginning the clean up efforts. As a lifelong Southerner, I've spent every summer vacation in Destin, Seaside, and Ft. Walton Beach in Florida and Gulf Shores/Orange Beach in Alabama. It breaks my heart to see what is happening there. One of my biggest fears is that Maddie won't get to bring her kids here when she's a mother one day. I pray that that's not the case, but right now I'm not too optimistic.
I hope that y'all are all doing ok. By the looks of my reader, I have a lot of catching up to do! Can't wait to see what you've been up to!

What an awful trip. We're headed down to the coast next week (hopefully), but we're going to the eastern side of the panhandle of FL. I've heard it's not there.... yet.
Man, have I missed you or what!
People I babysit for are near Seaside right now... they were freaking out about the oil. Hopefully the come back without having seen any of it :)
What a bummer that you got sick on your much deserved vacay! Isn't that just typical though? It is for me at least.
So glad you're back in action :)
Love your new blog!
It's so horrible what's happening, and the fact that it has yet to be contained is mind-boggling.
Glad you're feeling better!
oh, although I saw smiles in photos...so sorry for the nasty bug that plagues your group!
Glad you had a fun get-away.
The gulf situation is just tragic! And I too am wording about the future of the gulf for our children's generation and beyond.
